Zen Space Sauna
Welcome to our beautiful Zen Sauna!
In fact, it’s my 50th birthday present, and I’m sharing it with you all! We didn’t have room for it at home, we will eventually build one down in the bush but for now, this is ours to share.
It’s a top of the line full spectrum (far, mid and near infra-red) which boasts all the benefits of an infra-red sauna! Made from beautiful hemlock wood, this is your sanctuary time for your health. Detox, cellular regeneration, weight loss, cardiovascular benefits… the list goes on!
How does it work? – This is a self-managed system, a community shared resource. This means no one will be there to greet you and show you in, just make yourself at home! Book yourself in, look after your own payment, clean up for the next person.
Bookings are for an hour, it will take about 15 mins to get the sauna warm, if you have an hour slot, this gives you a 35 minute sauna and 10 mins to tidy up and exit. To operate the sauna, press the power button once to switch it on, then once again to switch the heaters on. It is pre-set to 50 degrees and on a 45 min timer! You are welcome to change the temperate or time if needed. To switch it off, long hold down the power button. Although it will turn off automatically about 5 mins after your timer runs out.
Book via the link below to reserve your time. Payment is an honesty system, cash in the box, or a bank transfer that says ‘sauna’. We’ll have an old school honesty system at the studio where you can keep track of your pass or drop cash into the box.

Feel free to book your regular spot each week, with a maximum of two so that there are room for others to do the same and remember to cancel your regular spot if you’re not going to make it!
Cost & Payment – I’ve aimed to be about a third cheaper than some of the Brisbane health spa’s offering sauna visits. A third cheaper because no one is doing your washing for you .
◦ Casual: $30, if sharing, $40 for two
◦ 5 pack : $125 ($25 per sauna)
◦ 10 pack: $200 ($20 per sauna)
You’re welcome to use your pack and pay the difference if a friend joins you! $40 for two.

When can I sauna? – Generally speaking, 6am to 8pm weekdays, 6am to 5pm Fri-Sun. The Sauna won’t be available to book when there are weekend retreats and workshops on ie Yoga Teacher Training or Retreats, this time will just show as unavailable.
Sauna between classes is best, you’ll have the studio to yourself. Check the timetable below to see when classes are on. If you take a sauna during class times, try and avoid the first 10 mins (meditation/breathwork) or the last 15 (savasana). Be conscious of things like keys and velcro which can disturb the class. No need to make eye contact or interact with the teacher unless you’re co-ordinating an exit time at the end of the day. If you’re sharing the sauna with a friend, outside class times is probably best so you can speak freely without the concern of noise disturbing the class.
If you arrive at the end of a class or the class finishes during your sauna (check the timetable) you can lock up on your way out – message Kate to find out our very secret location where we keep the studio key!
It’s critical that you leave when the teacher does at the end of the day, the side gate needs to be locked and needs a code. If you find yourself locked into the centre, call Kate on 0418 617 451.

Music or Podcast? – Take a moment to see if there is a class on or starting while you’re in there. It might be ear buds or no music, unless the studio is empty, which case, go for your life!
Hygiene – BYO sarong, towels x 2 and wet washer x 2! There is no shower onsite, so you won’t get the immediate wash down after your sauna like some other places. This isn’t a bad thing, they say with infra-red there is more benefits in not showering immediately, staying warm a little longer (vs the traditional sauna/cold plunge option). So bring a wet washer and give yourself a wipe down and put your coolest summer frock on and head home for a shower, or off to the creek for a cool dip! For this reason, we recommend a sauna AFTER a class or a treatment!
Please wear a sarong for your sauna, for hygiene and as a courtesy, and until we get some doors we can lock, for your privacy. While I wouldn’t mind, our neighbouring businesses will appreciate you not doing a half nudie run to your car, bring some comfy loose clothing to put on after your wipe down!
The combination of heat of the sauna and the antibacterial hemlock wood will take care of the sauna hygiene but please assist us by wearing a sarong, place a towel on the bench and a bath mat on the floor of the sauna where your feet are. This will ‘mop up’ most of the sweat and leave a clean and welcoming space behind for the next person. Bring an extra clean wet cloth to give the seat a wipe down. Please don’t use sauna with oils or creams on the skin, save it til after!
Safety – The sauna operates on a timer so in the worst case scenario, even if you pass out (!!), the sauna will cool down. It’s a good practice to let someone know you’re heading into the sauna, there is no one on reception at Zen Space supervising, this is your own choice, with your own risk. It’s recommended that you replenish with some coconut water or salts after your sauna to avoid cramping, to replace what was sweated out.
Contraindications – There are a few contraindications for using the sauna, including some heart conditions, pregnancy, asthma and epilepsy. We are not medical professionals and strongly recommend you do your own research and speak to your doctor if in doubt at all.
Cancellations – Need to cancel a booking? 24 hour’s notice is appreciated so others can use the spot. No one will be penalising you if you’re sick or there is an emergency. We’ll leave it up to you if you feel a cancellation donation is appropriate.
Spontaneous Saunas! – Check availability in the calendar and book in
there first, just so you don’t get interrupted! There is a towel & sarong library so, you can warm the sauna up and jump in.
Add to the library? – Feel free to make contributions to the towel, washer, bath mat & sarong library! This allows spontaneous Sauna’s to happen! Wash and return within 48 hours and make sure you contribute to the zen vibe by leaving them neatly rolled on the shelf. And maybe skip the old dog towels LOL!
Enjoy the sauna, and the benefits! Any questions, text me on 0418 617 451.

Book your sauna here and check the classes page to see what’s on. It’s a good idea to double check there isn’t a workshop on here too, (although we’ll be making the sauna unavailable at these times).
