Contact improvisation is an improvised dance form based on the communication between two moving bodies through touch. By exploring gravity, momentum and inertia, we can experience deep listening, awareness, and truthfulness.

“Contact improvisations are spontaneous physical dialogues that range from stillness to highly energetic exchanges. Alertness is developed in order to work in an energetic state of physical disorientation, trusting in one’s basic survival instincts. It is a free play with balance… bringing forth a physical/emotional truth about a shared moment of movement that leaves the participants informed, centered, and enlivened.” – Steve Paxton, original initaior of CI, 1979.

We invite you to an evening of explorative, shared movement. It is not a performance, but a personal exploration of movement and touch. Absolutely no previous dance or movement experience is required, just curiosity, a mind and a body.

The evening will be facilitated by Georgia Shine, who will take us through a number of contact improv exercises and discussion, inspired by her musical background and passion for movement and connection. The evening will end with a contact improv “jam”.

Cost $30 – proceeds going to support Communicate2Connect Inc, to help foster compassionate listening by supporting future Nonviolent Communication workshops and classes.
